Gold Coast defender Ben Long says Wil Powell's ban for using a homophobic slur won't prove disruptive ahead of their AFL clash with North Melbourne.

Powell was handed a five-game suspension this week for directing a highly offensive slur towards a Brisbane opponent during their 34-point QClash defeat last round.
His ban comes less than a month after Port Adelaide's Jeremy Finlayson was given a three-game ban for his homophobic verbal abuse of an Essendon player and ordered to undertake Pride in Sport training.
While the club has chosen to support Powell, Long said their focus remains on their Saturday meeting against the current wooden spooners at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
Competition heavyweights Geelong wait for them after this weekend's clash with the Kangaroos.
"Obviously 'Powelly' made a mistake. He's owned up to it. The club and the boys, we're all around him supporting him," Long said on Friday.
"We've really focused, not distracted. We're all open arms for him, but we're obviously up here for two important games."
Powell won't be the only change for the Suns on Saturday as they look to climb into the top eight.
Gold Coast (four wins, four losses) are in 10th spot, behind reigning premiers Collingwood.
Still pondering the make-up of his most effective side, Suns coach Damien Hardwick has opted for Bodhi Uwland, Alex Sexton, Lloyd Johnston, Alex Davies and Joel Jeffrey.
Bailey Humphrey also returns to the side after being managed last week.
Forward Ethan Read, midfielder Will Graham and defender Rory Atkins have been omitted, while midfielder Brayden Fiorini and defender David Swallow are being managed.
"We've got great depth. All of the boys know their roles, and whoever's up next to step in can complete that role," Long said.
"We've played some really good games and we learned from the games we haven't won.
"We've got an opportunity to grab and it's still a long season to go."
North coach Alistair Clarkson has also swung the axe. After losing Jy Simpkin to soreness, he dropped Toby Pink and Zane Duursma in favour of Charlie Lazzaro, Hugh Greenwood and Will Phillips.
